Forum on Bilingualism
OTTAWA, September 20, 2012
On September 20, the Office of the President, the Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute, the Chaire de recherche sur la francophonie et les politiques publiques and the Institute of Canadian Studies of the University of Ottawa will present an academic forum on bilingualism.
The forum will open with a symposium, entitled Justice et services en français en Ontario : bilan et perspectives, which will include three faculty members of the University of Ottawa:
- Linda Cardinal, full professor in the School of Political Studies and chairholder of the Chaire de recherche sur la francophonie et les politiques publiques
- Pierre Foucher, full professor in the Faculty of Law
- Daniel Boivin, part-time professor in the Faculty of Law, Common Law Section
Following the symposium, the Honourable Roy McMurtry, father of Ontario’s Courts of Justice Act, will give a lecture on the Bilingualism Saga in the Administration of Justice in Ontario. By sharing his thoughts with us on this critical moment for the development of French services in Ontario, our distinguished guest will enable us to learn from his experience.
This forum is open to all, but places are limited. The first part will be in French, while the Honourable Roy McMurtry’s lecture will be in English. A reception will follow.
